Drop and Swap

It is time! Time to gather those finished tops that are lingering in the closet, that kit that just needs the border added, the quilt that just needs the binding stitched, time to finish them up and bring them to one of our designated drop-off locations. At the same time, you can pick up the new kit (or two) that will keep you distracted from the occasional rainy days that are going to pop up in the coming months.

It looks like the provincial orders will be relaxed enough to allow porch-front exchanges by mid-June. So we can hold our Drop and Swap on June 19 from 10:00 to 3:00. Choose from one of these two locations:

  • Nancy at 672 Gilmour St (Centretown)
  • Robbie at 420 Tanager Bay (Orleans)

Do you remember the quilt that was on the design wall in my last post? I managed to finish up the Jagged X’s quilt top. I didn’t do the pieced border that Jordan Fabrics shows, because I just happened to have a perfect piece of border fabric in the stash. Hmmm, how will I quilt this?

  • HELP WANTED: Do you know of a quilter or a non-quilter who would like to help with QOVC? We are looking for some volunteers to help with some non-quilting projects.
  • QOVC needs a Newsletter editor. If you go to the QOVC website, you can find past issues of our national newsletter. We need an editor to pull together the ideas from representatives and volunteers across the country and organize an informative, inspirational source. Pat More has done a terrific job these last few years, but she is looking for different challenges.
  • QOVC is also looking for one or two people to manage our Social Media presence working with our Social Media Coordinator.
  • QOVC is also looking for a Special Projects Coordinator — this person would be the lead organizer in events such as our National Sew Day. If you or someone you know would like to help with any of these positions, please let us know.

I hope you are remembering the two contests that are running. The Bundle and Blocks Contest and the Finished Quilt Contest will both give you a chance to win a brand-new Janome machine.

Thank you for all you do to support our wounded and ill military members.

  1. Would it be OK if I drop off some thread and/or fabric at Nancy’s place on June 19? Louise

  2. Hi Nancy,

I hope to have a couple (4-5) finished quilts for you by then. I am trying to get caught up on quilting projects through June.
