National Sew Day Reminder

This coming Saturday is Quilts of Valour Canada National Sew Day — Saturday February 1, 2020

Remember that you can join us in one of two locations. As an extra thank you for joining us, we even have a door prize at each location!

Marilyn and June will be leading the east end stitchers from 9:30 to 3:30 at Orleans United Church (1111 Orleans Blvd). If you haven’t registered already, please send an email to Marilyn to let her know that you will be coming (mshquilter@gmail.com).

Jacquie and Brigid will be leading the west end stitchers from 9:30 to 3:30 at CannaConnect (215 Menten Place, Unit 106)(near Moodie and Robertson). If you haven’t registered already, please send an email to Jacquie to let her know that you will be coming (jacquie.fuller@quiltsofvalour.ca).

Make a Block – Make a Quilt – Make a Difference

The Block of the Day is the Brave and Bold Bento Box design.  We have a stack of strips ready to get you started. If you have 2 1/2″ strips of white or red, or 2 1/2″ squares of yellow, please bring them along to add to the stash.  You can pre-make blocks and bring them along ( Brave and Bold. final pattern ). You could even bring along a finished quilt (woo-hoo!).

Remember to bring along your sewing machine and basic tools (power cord, thread, scissors) and lunch (there is a fridge available). We will have an ironing board and iron set up and we will have a cutting station (although if you have a small cutting board and rotary cutter, they are always handy).

2nd Annual National Sew Day!

Quilts of Valour Canada

National Sew Day — Saturday February 1, 2020

Canada’s Quilters are encouraged to initiate or participate in an exciting day of QOVC sewing to help reach our ambitious goal of 20,000 quilts by 2020. Since 2006, QOVC has presented about 14,000 quilts to our veterans and serving members of the Canadian Forces who are managing illness or injury. We are marching into our biggest year yet, and we want you with us!

Make a Block – Make a Quilt – Make a Difference

In Ottawa, we will be gathering at two locations — one in the east end and one in the west.

In the east, under the leadership of Marilyn and June, we can meet at the Orleans United Church (1111 Orleans Blvd).  In the west, under the leadership of Brigid and Jacquie, we will meet at CannaConnect (215 Menten Place, Unit 106). Both venues will be working from 9:30 to 3:30.

If you have never come to one of our sew-days, stop by and say hello.  Stay to stitch a block or two or just cheer us on!

RSVP:  Please let us know in the comments if you are coming and to which location. That will let us get the room all set up for you.
