I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that all your stitched gifts were completed in good time. I am looking forward to getting back to the sewing.
Quilts of Valour Canada has set a goal of presenting a total of 20 000 quilts nation-wide by the end of 2020. QOVC has presented more than 14 000, but there still have some stitching to do.
Our next sew-day will be Monday January 13th. We will continue with the Log Cabin Triangles that we started in December. If you have some 2″ strips of light neutrals that you could bring along, that will help us to build more blocks, and if you would like to make some blocks in advance, that will help us build even more quilts. In December we used red, yellow and green for the triangles and white/creams as the background. We will still do more of those, but we are thinking of trying some dark greys for the background strips with bright/light blues, greens and yellows for a variation on a theme. The link for the pattern can be found at https://thecolorfulfabriholic.blogspot.com/2016/08/lcts-for-qov.html .
We will be at a new location this month. CannaConnect (215 Menten Place, Unit 106, Nepean) has a wonderful space that they are going to open up for us for our sew-day. It is on the main floor, so there will be no struggling with stairs. They have a small fridge, a coffee machine, and a tea kettle. (It’s not far from “Sew for It”, just in case you feel the need for some shopping to round out the day!)
QOVF/QOVC National Sew-Day is on Saturday February 1st. We are planning two locations for this event — one in the east and one in the west. I will send out more details later in January.
