Another Thank You

Robbie and I get the fun job of presenting your beautiful quilts to the many worthy recipients.  This winter and spring, we presented quilts to four nursing sisters from World War Two.  All are well into their 90s and all of them are bright and willing to share stories of that important part of their history.  Originally, the plan was to present to all four of them at the annual Nursing Sisters’ Luncheon in May, but that wasn’t possible. Nonetheless, Robbie and I went to the luncheon and spoke to this gathering of serving and retired military nurses about Quilts of Valour Canada. QOVC is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, but still, many have not heard of us.  This week I received a thank-you note from the Nursing Sisters Association. Although it is addressed to Robbie and I, it is also a tribute to the hours of stitching (dare I mention the unstitching?) that you devote to our shared mission. So here is a copy of the note, as well as pictures of two of the Nursing Sisters who received quilts.

Thank you Sewists

Thank you to all the sewists who came out to join us on Monday.  Silly me forgot to take photos of our works in progress, but we did manage to finish enough Road to Oklahoma blocks for 1 1/2 quilt tops — one in a blue/brown colourway and one in blues/greens/whites.  Thank you to Louise and Mary who took them home to assemble and finish.  I will have to post pictures of these quilts when they are done.

In addition, we received more finished quilts and quilt tops, shared stories and helped each other with quilting challenges.
