Happy Canada Day and Thank you!

It has been a busy June! Our Drop and Swap saw seven completed quilts brought to us as well as 10 tops that are ready for quilters to do their magic. Plus, a total of 21 kits were signed out to be made into tops. That will keep us rolling.

Presentations started up again and with four presenters working across the city from east to west, we presented 30 quilts to happy participants. There is something wonderfully emotional to see the quilts received with such gratitude. At one presentation, the recipient had been nominated by his teenaged son. As he hugged his son in gratitude, he said, “I hope you know how much this means to me; I hope you never know how much this means to me.” It was such an apparently contradictory statement, but it expressed so well the emotional attachment to the quilt. It is a gift that shows gratitude and respect for a sacrifice, but the depth of that sacrifice is something that most of us will never fully understand.

Happy Stitching!
