Volunteers Needed for OVQG Quilt Show

Ottawa Valley Quilt Guild is hosting the quilt show this year from May 10 – 12 at the City View Curling Club, 50 Capilano Drive in Ottawa (near Merivale & Baseline). The quilt show will be open from 10 – 5 on Friday and Saturday, 10 – 4 on Sunday.

We are looking for volunteers to staff the Quilts of Valour Booth. Your role will be to share information about Quilts of Valour and accept donations.  We have three (overlapping) shifts per day (10-2, 12-4, 1-5). Please send us an email (nancy.arbogast@quiltsofvalour.ca or robbiechapman61@gmail.com) to let us know which day and shift you would prefer to work.

Sew Fancy needs a hand

Rose Parr from Guelph has brought to our attention that Alma Laidlaw of Sew Fancy needs some help staffing her booth at the CQA, particularly on Tuesday (June 11) for set-up and on Friday/Saturday (June 14/15). If you are interested in helping, please send an email to rose@roseparr.com.   (Alma usually reimburses her helpers with products — hmm, more gadgets anyone???)

 

Quilt Show Assistance Needed

Hello Quilters,

One way that Quilts of Valour spreads the word about our mission, finds new quilters, and contacts potential recipients is through our contacts at local quilt shows.  The Ottawa Valley Quilters Guild has graciously invited us to participate in this year’s quilt show on May 10-12 at the City View Curling Rink (50 Capilano Drive).  The show will run from 10 – 5 on Friday and Saturday, 10 – 4 on Sunday.  We are looking for a few willing volunteers to help us staff the desk for one (or more) four-hour shifts. Please send me an email (nancy.arbogast@quiltsofvalour.ca) or respond in the comments to let me know which shifts you would prefer.

If you are also available to help me in Arnprior on the afternoon of Sunday April 28, I am still looking for one more helper.

Successful Drop Swap and Sew

Thank you to everyone who helped with this weekend’s Drop Swap and Sew. We received fifteen! finished quilts, plus quilt tops.  We had a small but industrious group stitching together new tops and stitching binding and labels.  We are in a good position to continue our mission to thank our wounded and ill servicemen and women.

We will be presenting some of these quilts at a presentation this Wednesday evening (April 17, 6:30 pm) at the Montgomery Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (Kent and MacLaren). If you would like to see a presentation of quilts and hear the deep appreciation from the recipients, we would love to have you join us.

Drop Swap and Sew Reminder

Calling All Quilters,

Remember that this Saturday April 13 is our Annual Drop Swap and Sew from 9:30 – 3:00 at the Orleans United Church (1111 Orleans Blvd).

Drop in to say hello, return completed quilts and quilt tops, and collect new projects to work on.

We will have tables set up for those who have indicated that they would like to stay and sew with us.

See you Saturday!
